About me...
My name is Sivan (סיון). I was born and raised in Israel. After
finishing my MSc studies in the
Industrial
Engineering and Management faculty in the Technion three weeks ago...
I have just started my first year PhD studies in the Statistics department
at Wharton.
About what I did...
I finished
my BSc. Cum Laude (2004) in the Industrial engineering and
Management faculty in the Technion.
In my
third year, I started teaching "Introduction to Statistics" and it
was a lot of fun. I also taught "Data
Mining
Methods" which was a great course. I received four times the excellence
award for best Teaching
Assistant.
The
courses I taught opened my mind to the world of Statistics. I decided to
continue studying my
MSc degree
in the same faculty in the Technion. My wonderful advisers Prof.
Paul Feigin and Prof. Avishai
Mandelbaum got
me interested in Call Center statistical analyzes and so my MSc thesis title is
"Forecasting
Demand for a Telephone Call Center: Analysis of Desired
versus Attainable Precision". This thesis involved
Linear Mixed models, Bayesian models and more... and
so here I am still trying to figure out what are my
interests in the vast world of Statistics.
Who I am...
Last year I got married to my wonderful husband Noam whom
I met during the army.

I have a great mother and father who support me and are an
inspiration to me. I am a sandwich sister to two
wonderful brothers. My older brother, Ori, is working in
'CheckPoint' and my younger brother, Elad, is still
in the army. Last, but certainly not least, is my
dog, Bagio, which is a beautiful and smart golden retriever
(which is back in Israel with the rest of the family).
My Favorites
I have been dancing modern ballet, jazz and classical ballet
since I was 9 years old. I am hoping to find a
new place to dance in Philly. My other passion is tramping
(or tracking depending on the country). I try to
get out as much as possible and smell the roses…
